Giving Back to Community

The commercial real estate sector has a unique opportunity to shape the communities it operates in. In 2024, BOMA BC members proudly raised $20,000 for community centres and associations across Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna, BC. These contributions directly supported vital programs, helping to provide resources and support to those who rely on these services in our communities.

  • The Mustard Seed Street Church Food Bank, Victoria, BC

    The Mustard Seed Street Church has been a key player in battling hunger and fostering faith in Greater Victoria since 1975. Supported primarily by the community, its initiatives include the largest Food Bank in the area, the Food Security Distribution Centre serving 75 organizations, Family Back-to-School and Christmas supports, Hospitality programs, services at the Hope Farm Healing Centre, and Church services as part of its extensive outreach.

  • Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, Vancouver, BC

    Founded in 1978, the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre (DEWC) in Vancouver is a non-profit supporting women in the Downtown Eastside. Offering shelter, meals, advocacy, counselling, and support programs, DEWC addresses issues like homelessness, poverty, addiction, and violence, aiming to empower women and foster community well-being. In 2023, BOMA BC attended DEWC's annual fundraiser, HERSTORY, celebrating women's resilience and organizations like DEWC fostering positive community change.

  • Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS), Vancouver, BC

    The Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS) is a non-profit focused on improving the health and well-being of urban Indigenous peoples in Greater Vancouver. Established in 1994, it offers culturally relevant health services, including a primary care clinic, addiction and mental health support, and access to traditional healing. VAHS also provides dental care and programs focused on early childhood development and cultural education, all within a safe, community-driven environment that prioritizes holistic well-being.

  • Central Okanagan Food Bank, Kelowna, BC

    The Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is a non-profit organization in Kelowna, BC. Since its inception, the food bank has been dedicated to providing nutritious food to enhance the well-being of vulnerable populations and alleviate hunger in the local community. In addition to their food distribution efforts, the COFB is actively involved in advocacy and educational initiatives to raise awareness about food insecurity and promote sustainable solutions.

    Donation: $2,000

Education Foundation

The BOMA BC Gerry Thompson Memorial Bursary was established to assist new industry professionals. For 25 years, the endowment has provided annual donations to BCIT and SFU Real Estate Program students.

The Association looks forward to helping future students along their educational journeys.
